I tried to blank the talk of bad weather the night before. However, it was blowing a hooley when I walked out the door. There were several trips out of the car park transition zone to look at the state of the sea. It reminded me of family trips where everyone tries to put on a brave face when a trip to the cinema may have been a better option. 10mins to go, and we were wet-suited up, ready for the plunge, and hanging on the words of the Race Director. With 45kmph winds, the sea looked like that picture, ‘The Great Wave off Kanagawa.’ Thank goodness for the advice from the two experienced RNLI guys. The Race Director canceled the swim as the rib was not big enough to rescue that many flailing triathletes.\u003c/span\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\u0022color: rgb(255, 255, 255);\u0022\u003eSo, the only thing needed now was to stay upright on the bike. Penny was slightly losing her nerve, which was a little unsettling as she had been so upbeat up until now. It was okay, however. Climbing the wrong way up hills on my bike, I usually love whizzing down, and trying to stay on the heels of the Club run leaders paid off. I loved it!
