Prioritize injury prevention: Train smart and stay injury-free. Remember the 80/20 principle — focus on injury prevention for 80% of your training and push your limits for the remaining 20%. Trust me, you'll want to save your war stories for the post-race celebration! To do that you need to get to the start line.

2. Swim, bike, run like a boss: Efficient transitions are key – I like to take my time, but they are still efficient! My goal was to complete the Ironman nothing more – so I used that as a reference point. Master your swim-to-bike and bike-to-run switcharoo. Embrace the mantra of efficiency in the water, therefore do not get too tired, maintain a strong bike effort at around 65% of FTP, and prepare yourself mentally for the challenging run. You're not just a physical powerhouse, but a mental superhero too!

3. Mindful nutrition for success: Fuel your body with purpose. Not all calories are created equal, my friends. Choose your nutrition wisely and consider the macronutrients that will sustain your energy levels during training. Say no to empty calories, and yes to the fuel that turns you into an Ironman machine!

4. Strength training for the win: Don't skip those gains! Dedicate time to strength training at least three times a week. Not only will it boost your overall performance, but it'll also keep those pesky injuries at bay. Be the triathlete superhero you were born to be!

5. Embrace variety in fuelling: Gels can get dull after a while. So, spice things up! Consider adding sandwiches to your special needs bags during the race. They'll provide a welcome change and keep your taste buds singing during those long-distance battles – particularly on the bike it is a good time to eat solids. Ironman can be tasty, too!

6. The power of salt and electrolytes: Say hello to salt tablets! These little wonders maintain hydration and balance your electrolytes during endurance events. I prefer to take these and this allows me to drink plain water.

7. Gels made easy: when it comes for gels use flavourless gels for the win! Trust me, after four or five hours on the course, simplicity is key. Opt for gels that go down smoothly and keep your energy levels soaring, but also use solid food on the bike. Fuel up, my friends, and conquer those miles!

8. Stretching and activation: Flexibility and activation are your secret weapons. Prioritize both pre and post-workout routines. Activate those muscles before diving into action and stretch them out afterward to aid in recovery. Treat your body like the temple it is!

9. Metrics that matter: Measure your progress wisely. Speed/time for swimming, Functional Threshold Power (FTP) for cycling, and running FTP (rFTP) instead of solely relying on heart rate. rFTP in my opinion is better than heart rate as there is a lag between effort and BPM. Don't get caught up in the numbers game. Find the metrics that truly reflect your performance and let them guide you to glory!

Capturing the Ironman Journey

Oh, and before I forget, let me share some bonus tips! The height of the carousel. The carousel generally works best when using units that are
relative to the width of the screen. So, for example, a height of 35vw means that the height of the
carousel is 35% of the width of the screen. This gives a constant aspect ratio of 10:3.5.
Default mode uses the central carousel configuration as defined from the settings area of the website.
Custom mode allows you to define a list of images to display just on this carousel.

Visibility
Usually, the display of member data is subject to the logged-in user having specific entitlements to view that data. By default,
this component will respect those entitlements and only show data that the user is allowed to see. However, in certain circumstances,
you may wish to remove these restrictions and, instead, rely on the permissions required to view the CMS page itself.
For example, when creating a "Meet the Committee" page, for viewing by members, you will probably need to disable the member data entitlements as
members would not normally have permission to view the personal details of committee members.
the usual member visibility restrictions WILL be applied.
The displayed list of members will be limited to those who the logged in user has permission to see.
Important: the usual member visibility restrictions WILL NOT be applied.
All of the members in the list will be displayed, regardless of the logged in user's permissions. Please ensure that the CMS space
has appropriate restrictions applied.
the usual member data visibility restrictions WILL be applied.
In addition, for contact details, only those that have been explicitly shared by the member will be visible; even if the viewing
member has elevated permissions.
