Petersfield Triathlon Club South Downs Way Ride

The South Downs Way is an off road bridleway, 100 miles long, and runs from Winchester to Eastbourne. The bridleway is not technically difficult, but you will need experience of riding off road and own a mountain bike (hard tail is fine or full suss.).

I have cycled the route many times and led groups from TPS and The Meadow School.

We will be staying in Truleigh Hill Youth Hostel Saturday night, about 60 miles into the ride.

The ride will be unsupported unless a club member (or anyone else) would like to support us along the way.

I will arrange a bag drop at Truleigh Hill, for change of clothing  toiletries, food booze !! etc.

The cost will be about £45 – this includes B & B and evening meal at the hostel, fuel costs etc..  There will be additional cost if we can persuade someone to support us, as we will need to pay their expenses  – accommodation, fuel etc.

I have chosen the weekend of 8th, 9th because they have beds available. They have dorms of  6 beds or 2 bed rooms. I will try and book 2 bed rooms.

You will need to get yourself and your bike to Winchester for the start, and get yourself back from Eastbourne.

I will have a vehicle at Eastbourne so I can pick up the bags from the hostel. This also means I can transport three people back with me!

Please let me know by email ASAP if you want to be part of this exciting adventure!!!

We will aim for a maximum of 10 riders.

As soon as we have enough riders I will ask for a deposit of £35 ( cost of the hostel). I will then book the beds.   I can’t emphasis enough that we have to move quickly as beds may get booked up.

If you have any questions at this stage, please email me. Full details will be given when the ride is good to go!!

I’m excited already.
